The inaugural National Cattle Mobility Event was held at Harper Adams University College in Shropshire on the April 19th, 2008. Over 150 delegates attended the event, including farmers, foot trimmers, vets, consultants, and both agricultural and veterinary students.

 

The Keynote Speaker was Professor Christer Bergsten from the Swedish Dairy Association, who spoke about 'Cattle Mobility Improvement Strategies'.

During the afternoon, delegates had the opportunity to visit a number of practical workshop sessions, entitled:

  • Improving mobility on YOUR farm - the role of the environment, buildings and footbaths
  • Practical demonstration of foot trimming
  • Mobility scoring
  • Demonstration of common lesions causing lameness
